A remake of a 1985 platformer (which you might remember as The Green Beret), Rush ‘n Attack: Ex Patriot at first appears to be the next Shadow Complex. A game that utilises current graphics technology but retains the retro delights of old 2D platform shoot ‘em ups. Unfortunately this new Rush ‘n Attack quickly reveals numerous flaws and issues that will burn up most gamers before they can make it through the first scene.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about the Hitman game series really appeals to me. It's probably not the systematic and carefully planned murder missions that reward higher ratings for making it look like an accident... probably. I'm sure it's the strategy elements of the gameplay or the unconventional missions or something else. I've been waiting for the official announcement of the long hinted at, we're talking two years of hints, new Hitman game. Now it's been officially announced with a teaser trailer that tells us absolutely nothing, but at least it's now officially on the cards. So a subdued wooooo from a murder simulator fan right here.

Just a quick note, the trailer caps of with a barcode, and as tempting as it is to use one of those downloadable barcode scanner aps to see if there's some hidden meaning or ARG hint, based on internet rumours I've read, I strongly advise you do not.

Dynasty Warriors are back with the latest instalment in the console spanning series. Rather than continuing the innovations of their last instalment Koei have rolled back the franchise clock and created what feels like a sequel to earlier instalments than a direct successor to six. While some of the new and returned elements to the series are exciting, others feel unnecessary and for some long term Dynasty Warriors fanatics the roll back isn’t always a good thing.

Fans of the series will be quick to snap up the latest instalment but it offers little to entice non fans into the fold.

Okay so, Dragon Age: Origins was a big, sweeping, classically fantasy charged role playing game with elves and dwarves and all the familiar Tolkienesque trappings. More than anything else it was broad, with plenty of far off places and varying locales for lounge room heroes to go adventuring. Too few RPG games seem to be building big worlds these days.

Then along comes Dragon Age II. Strutting its stuff and winning hearts and minds with some great gameplay and slick looks. But it takes a big step to the left of the expectation of what an RPG should be.

You know what sucks about multiplayer gaming? These days everything; games are derivative and repetitive, people are rude and annoying and by the time you find a game to really invest some love in all your friends have moved on to something else. Yes I am feeling a little grumpy today. Bit of a male period thing happening I'll admit.

Thankfully for me Starhawk got announced and it looks damn fine. Third person action with building! You get to make structures and strategic advantages, it's like the opposite of Red Faction Guerrilla. Of course if you want to blow shit up that's all good too. And even cooler? Transforming vehicles! Your space jet plane transforms into a walking mech tank went it lands. I didn't play much of the original Warhawk being late to the game with a PS3, but Starhawk has become a must buy for me as soon as I laid eyes on the dev diary below. I'm all about toybox games that give you lots of pieces to play with and Starhawk melds that game with a multiplayer shooter. This could get my grumpy menstrual ass back online.
