Kingdoms of Amalur, the not so bad looking RPG game from a former Elder Scrolls guy, a mega huge comic book guy and a fantasy novelist guy; has been delayed out to February 2012. Arguably a much better release window for a fantasy RPG that’s also a new IP. To make sure you don’t forget all about the game in the meantime, here’s a seriously lengthy gameplay trailer to sear its memory into your brain pan.

Call me a masochist, but I’m reasonably excited at the prospects of Final Fantasy XIII-2. There were certainly things I liked about Final Fantasy XIII, the design and visuals of the game was pretty great, as were (some) of the characters, but these adorable chiclets of happiness were crushed under the insufferable linearity and the agonisingly slow pace of the game.

It's time for the Lambeau Leap, with Madden 12 here for its annual cornerback blitz on consoles the world over. Put your receivers in motion after the jump.

The Tuesday Cap is a new regular column capping of and commenting on game news for the past week.
It’s a big one this week, so you might want to go and get something to eat while you read. Not a big meal or anything, nothing that might make you sleepy, but something to munch on, some kind of vittles (which MS Word says isn’t a real word but it totally is).
You know what’s really good? A couple of scotch finger biscuits dunked in a jar of Nutella. But don’t try and scoop with them, only dunk, otherwise they’ll break.

If, like the vast majority of the gaming world given the sales figures, you’re playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution right now, well you better pull your finger out and get that game finished because the DLC will be available next October.
Unveiled through a clever easter egg and a viral website the DLC covers some of the lost time experienced in the main storyline. Oh, intriguing stuff. Trailer below.

In our house, being the geek homestead we are, Studio Ghibli is pretty popular; our family movie nights frequently feature Nausicaa and the Castle of Cogliostro. The Studio Ghibli game Ni no Kuni: Shiroki Seihai no Joō (translated to The Another World or, Second Country: The Queen of White Sacred Ash) just looks amazing. A console adaptation of a 3DS title, the game is about to go on sale in Japan. Hopefully it gets a localised release, the 3DS version is yet to be adapted to English.
The game follows the adventures of boy named Oliver attempting to revive his dead mother in an alternate reality faery world, where he meets alternate versions of people he knew in the human world. He uses a book of spells given to him by a doll his mother gave him, who’s actually a fairy, to battle the nastier elements of this other world. The DS version of the game used the stylus to draw symbols to cast spells, not sure how this will work on the PS3 but I imagine it might involve the Move.
One of the reasons the game may take a while to get localised is that it comes with an actual copy of the spell book in the game that’s packed with information and hints. Might to time to break out that Japanese phrase book.
