Rainbow 6 Makes My Month

Woooo, Rainbow 6 new game. My main issue with all the military shooters that have graced us these last few years could be summed up with the phrase, 'not Rainbow 6'. Sure it was buggy, laggy, unforgivingly difficult in parts. But it had something, some zing, that made it a stand out title. It was one of the first online games where I really got sucked into the community and most of my friends list is still made up people I met playing the first Rainbow 6 Vegas. It's been a long time between drinks but Ubisoft have dropped the first hints of a new Rainbow 6 title, this one set in New York featuring our international anti terrorist force foiling some nasty generic terrorists.

The news comes by way of leak to Kotaku and the hasn't been officially announced so information is light, so we don't have any real details other than New York, but expect to be breach and clearing again sometime in the next 12 months.

The Australian Xbox Avatar Army

That above there is every Avatar of every one who submitted their Australian or New Zealand gamertag for a recent Xbox Live competition to win 100,000 gamer points. It's pretty staggering and gives a good visual of how many people are in the Xbox Live community in our little corner of the world. Doesn't explain why I can never find anyone to play Assassins Creed Brotherhood with though!

Witcher 2 To Albino Up the Xbox

Good news for RPG fans who can't afford high end PC's (ie. me), Witcher 2 has been announced for Xbox 360. Based on a series of best selling Polish novels, the game follows the adventures of albino warrior Geralt, a Witcher trained from birth with supernatural and martial skills to fight monsters and other big nasty threats. It's super high fantasy stuff with a delightfully gritty bent. To get the high end game running on a dinky console is no mean feat but developers CD Projekt assure us they're up to the task. We'll see I guess. I'm pretty excited by the news as the Witcher has been one of a number of games that have caused me to cast a loathing eye at my iMac, despite all the good it has brought me. Expect some more news at E3 but for now all we know is, it's coming.

Lets just pretend we've forgotten that the original Witcher was also confirmed for the Xbox 360 only to be yanked as unfeasible late into development.

Modern Warfare 3 Launch Trailer

Look, I'm going to go out on a limb here and accuse Activision of being sneaky. I think the information that is being 'leaked' early is their way of catching up on marketing a game that should've been marketed months ago given its early November release date. The information was supposedly leaked due to the changing of the guards - in this case developers - now that the game is complete enough to start the final coat of polish. Other developers step in and apply that coat. Some of those developers appear to have sticky fingers. Bah, rubbish.

Crysis 2 Review

Crysis 2 was the medicine I needed. After the early onset of boredom with Halo Reach multiplayer, and boredom crushing my will to live before I’d even finished Call of Duty Black Ops campaign, I wasn’t looking forward to reviewing Crysis 2. Oh me of little faith. The energy and sheer glistening beauty of Crysis 2 has given me a new lease of life on the FPS front.  It’s the first must buy shooter of 2011.

Bulletstorm is the latest first-person shooter from Epic, the same team that brought us the fantastic Gears of War franchise. Read on to find out if this foul mouthed, tongue in cheek Sci-fi shooter lives up to the hype or should have its mouth washed out with soap.
