The Tuesday Cap is a new regular column capping of and commenting on game news for the past week.
Well another week and another game show, this week saw the start of the Call of Duty XP Event. That’s right, an entire event focused on a single game (or game series). Love it or hate it, there’s no question Activision’s sacred cow has become a cultural mainstay.
In less important news my copy of Deus Ex finally arrived. The mid year game drought is officially over. Hurrah!

I super loved Monday Night Combat, evidenced by my glowing review last year. Combining third person shooting, tower defence gameplay and a Team Fortress cartoon style the game was a joy to play. So I fully expect to ultra love its sequel, Super Monday Night Combat. As can be seen in the trailer below we’ve got new characters, new gameplay and new environments. It’s just all together looking fantastic. Best of all this sequel is going to be released completely free to play for PC over Steam sometime before Christmas. Keep checking the Uber Entertainment website for updates.

Before last night I couldn’t wait for Gears of War 3, I was gobbling up information for that game like strawberry sherbet. But last night I kicked back with the Space Marine demo. After twenty minutes of goretastic action poor old Marcus and Dom couldn’t be further from my mind. Space Marine is the British tinged Gears of War and you should download the demo immediately.
(Warning: the following post contains rambling about comic books, but trust me, it's totally relevant)

Apologies for the tardiness of this update. A head cold laid me out the past few days.
Another week another games show but unlike previous shows the Penny Arcade Expo, or PAX, this year seemed to be the show to be at. Sadly I wasn’t, and if you’re reading this and Australian, you probably weren’t either. Woe to us.
Read after the jump for PAX highlights and other news of the game world from this week.

House of the Dead Overkill HD has been refused classification, essentially banned, in Australia. This is despite the Wii version sailing past with an MA15+ rating in 2009. The issue of contention with the OFLC is a new ‘Hardcore Mode’, this mode increases the requirement for headshots and the number of zombies/mutants needing to be killed to progress, which in turn increases the amount of gore on screen. There is also mentionin the OFLC documentation of a baby mutant that leaps onto the screen and then explodes into bloody chunks when shot.
Yes this does seem massively inconsistent with many games available for sale right now that feature all of these things, Dead Space springs to mind for monster babies. But that’s the judgement, needless to say Sega of Australia are unhappy, “There are far worse titles currently available in the marketplace which involve more than shooting down mutants in humorous circumstances,” claimed Managing Director Darren Macbeth, "We will do everything we can to prove that House of the Dead: Overkill is worthy of an MA15+ rating in Australia.”
There can only be one logical explanation for this, the OFLC are zombies and this ban is another in a long list of their attempts to restrict access to zombie elimination training simulators from the public. People of Australia, import this game immediately, for the sake of the children, before they become walking happy meals for OFLC zombies! Import this game! Train your children! Rent Army of Darkness as an educational tool!
