Win a 47" LG Cinema 3D Smart TV

Written by Mick Brown | Tuesday, 19 June 2012 09:19

So, LG sent us a television and told us to make a video of us using their new 'Dual Play' tech. They said, "You guys get the most views on your video and we'll give you two TVs." So, of course, we did as they asked.

Dual Play is an interesting take on using the stereoscopic 3D technology to display different images on the same screen to two people. Basically, no more split screen and it means full screen multiplayer gaming on the same screen. Check out the video below to see what I mean.

We're in competition with a few other mid-sized Australian blogs and if our video gets the most views, we get a TV and we get a TV to give away to you guys. To be honest, I think we really have a shot and considering our 'modest' and loyal readership, you guys really have a shot.

So share the video around and let's see if we can crack 1,000 views.

The Wednesday Cap – E3 Recap Ending With a Whimper

Written by Aaron Mitchell | Wednesday, 13 June 2012 19:28

Hey, due to family commitments I’m moving my news round up from Tuesday to Wednesday. Also this is a rant about E3, so not so much news. Expect regular unbitter broadcasts next week.

TS Eliot wrote an excellent poem called The Hollow Men about the end of the world (read it here, go on, get literate) suggesting the end of the world, the end of humanity, will come not with a bang, but a whimper. It’s not hard to imagine Eliot using the same line to describe E3. The event has rolled into town, made a hell of a lot of noise, and rolled out leaving gamers without much to show. Could this be the most disappointing E3 we’ve ever had?

Let’s take a look at the major players and summarise their efforts.

Other stuff happened this week I suppose, not much of it very good. Well come on then. Click through and see what's happening. Also, if you're looking for something to do this week then do yourself a favour, play Prototype 2, don't even think, just do it. You will thank me later. Review coming soon.

Time to get excited and find a comfy spot to sit as you take in the official Max Payne 3 trailer. The launch trailer harks back to Max's tragic past as he reflects on the events that brought him from the remains of his life in New York to his lowest point yet: caught up in circumstances far beyond his control, out of his depth and on the edge in the darkest heart of Sao Paulo Brazil.

Reality Television as Bad as Video Games for Aggression Levels

Written by Aaron Mitchell | Tuesday, 27 March 2012 17:53

My wife watches a lot of shows that involve wealthy people being incredibly petty, nasty and generally hideous to each other. She claims that as a social worker and psychology student the show is fascinating to her. Personally it causes me to bleed from my tear ducts.

So I’m unsurprised to learn from a recent study that Real Housewife type shows create an unconscious aggressive response almost identical to that produced by playing violent video games.
