Have a Merry Christmas dear readers, Robo-He-Santa demands it! I hope Santa, or your specific religious or nationally denominated gift provider gives you some awesome games tomorrow!
And spare a thought for those of us, with jerk family members, who don’t receive games but instead get clothes or cologne or some junk.
See you in the New Year.

Don't forget today is Thanksgiving in the US, if you want to get the Storyteller achievement/trophy legitimately in Batman Arkham City you'll need to pay a visit to the creepy Calendar Man. Just head through the backdoor to the courthouse and follow the steps down to the basement. He's waiting there all Lector like for you to visit.
The holidays you need to visit him on are a bit random. Here's the full list:
10/31/2011 - Halloween
11/24/2011 - Thanksgiving
12/25/2011 - Christmas
1/1/2012 - New Years Day
2/14/2012 - Valentines Day
3/17/2012 - St. Patrick's Day
4/1/2012 - April Fools
5/13/2012 - Mothers Day
6/17/2012 - Fathers Day
7/4/2012 - Independence Day
8/16/2012 - Feast Day of St. Roch
9/3/2012 - Labor Day
Off course there are a few spurious methods to get the achievement, but I'll leave that up to you to discover on your own.

While this isn't specifically game related, it is a short film made by one guy, entirely in CGI, and it looks absolutely amazing. It's entirely worth the nine minutes of your life you will spend watching it, and very likely the nine minutes following that you will rewatch it.
Possibly the nine minutes after that too. It's a science fiction short film, and really I don't want to reveal more than that, just watch and be impressed. Oh and make sure you pop that thing up to widescreen.

It seemed like I was the last to play Modern Warfare 3. At the very least I was the last of my friends to try it out and I was raging with jealousy. I was not disappointed, but this post will be decidedly negative.

Saw this today playing on the TV in my local EB Games as I bought a copy of Dance Central 2; yes really, I bring it, so what?
Not often a live action trailer captures the tone of a multiplayer experience well, but this one certainly does. The humorous tale of the Vet and Noob, played by Sam Worthington and Jonah Hill, could be any one of a dozen buddies thrown together in the turbulent world of multiplayer, hell it could easily be me and editor Mick (an accomplished veteran by any standard). Enjoy.

The trailer for GTA V is out and looks suitably amazing. As correctly guessed by everyone the setting will be Los Santos, the pastiche of Los Angeles last seen in GTA San Andreas. We've got more information to go on than the cryptic first trailer for GTA IV all those years ago. GTA V appears to tell the story of a bad guy gone good, who still dabbles in the bad. At least that's one of the stories we're going to see.

People are often surprised when I admit to them I’m obese. I don’t have a hanging beer gut or an invisible neck. Being a really big guy my obesity is relatively hidden, but it’s definitely there. According to the Body Mass Index scale, at 130 kilos and standing 6 foot 5 I am an obese man and at the age of 32 I’m beginning to feel it. Even worse I’m aware that every day that passes my age is going to make it even harder to get rid off and keep off extra weight. To get just under the line for normal weight range at my height I need to be 35 kilograms lighter. That’s a lot.
I’ve all ready adjusted my diet in the past week, cutting out sugar and starchy carbs all together which has all ready done amazing things for my energy levels. But what I really need to do is get more physical and this is where video games come in.

Battlefield 3 comes out this week on Thursday the 27th. Call of Duty are holding a franchise-wide double XP weekened starting on Thursday the 27th.
This is increasingly like two very vocal mothers giving birth in the same room, screaming violently at each other. The only thing left now is the blissful silence while the mother and family admire their amazing spawn...until they start slinging muck on how ugly the other baby is and we resume normal programming. Ah, the internet...

This Saturday, Rockstar Games will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of one of the most influential games of all time, Grand Theft Auto III.
With stellar voice acting, a darkly comic storyline, a stunning soundtrack and revolutionary open-world gameplay, Grand Theft Auto III was a landmark moment in popular culture.
The tale of a small-time criminal set loose in Liberty City, a sprawling metropolis where anything could happen, Grand Theft Auto III was the frontrunner of a new genre: the non-linear, ‘open world’ 3D game. It also marked a turning point in the evolution of videogames into a bonafide entertainment phenomenon.

I had meant to include this as the Big Story on the Tuesday Cap last week for its combination of a super creepy Resident Evil game trailer and what’s essentially a Capcom snuff film featuring a girl in a wet suit that looks like Shakira.
For perspective here’s the first Resident Evil Revelations trailer featuring a ridiculous looking protagonist. Creepy follow up snuff film trailer after the break.
