Fallout 3: Broken Steel Review

Written by Aaron Mitchell | Tuesday, 02 June 2009 21:52

The sound you heard a few weeks back, that snorting, shuddering sigh, was the sound of a thousand Fallout geeks the world over (me included) having a geekgasm over Fallout 3: Broken Steel. Now I must prewarn, this review is going into spoilerish territory for people who have not finished the game yet, which I know is most people. But Broken Steel, the third expanded content download for Fallout 3, covers the events that happen after the games conclusion. As a result I may let slip some of the more general details about the end of the game. If you’d like a completely spoiler free experience it's probably best you avoid this review.

Halo Reach Confirmed: Drew's Sleeping With Someone at Microsoft, Probably Male

Written by Mick Brown | Tuesday, 02 June 2009 10:13

Rumours that Microsoft would announce a new Halo game spread like wildfire yesterday after a screenshot of Xbox.com's Achievements page showed space allocated for 'Halo Reach'. The day before, however, when we recorded our season premiere of That Aussie Gamecast discussing and predicting the outcome and announcements of E3 '09, our very own Drew was laughed off for predicting that a new Halo would be announced at Microsoft's press event. I would like to formally apologise to the guru himself because this morning Halo Reach was confirmed and teased.

In what was a totally expected announcement Forza 3 was finally announced publicly by Microsoft. The game looks good, really good. We all know how well Forza 2 plays already so this thing should be a sure bet when it comes out in October. If that isn't enough for you more details are available after the link.

Molyneux Demos Amazing Interaction for Xbox 360, Terrifies Me

The video below, if it is to be believed, is an amazing piece of tech demonstrating the capabilities of the Xbox 360's Project Natal motion controller. Presented at Microsoft's E3 press conference this morning by Lionhead's Peter Molyneaux was an artificial intelligence named Milo who could interact with you through the Project Natal motion controller recognising things like emotion, seemingly answering questions and passing objects between you and himself. It's an incredible demonstration and if I wasn't such a cynic (Re: Killzone 2's "gameplay footage") I would be completely floored.

Crysis 2 Confirmed for PS3 and 360 (and probably PC)

Written by Aaron Mitchell | Monday, 01 June 2009 22:47

I was lucky enough to get a chance to play Crysis when it first came out courtesy of a friend with a ridiculously expensive PC rig. The type of PC you can imagine sending a killing machine back through time to kill your mother before she had you when you try and turn it off.

Sadly the owners of said self aware super computers were in the minority when Crysis first released and the majority gamers with consoles waited patiently for the announcement of Crysis on the 360 or PS3. No announcement came.

But its some good news for Crysis 2!

Square Enix Unveil Nier

In our recent podcast we wise and well learned academics of gaming talked, among other things, about God of War 3 and Darksiders, two of the best looking of a bundle of third person action games getting some lime (and possibly lemon) light at E3 this year.

Unsurprisingly another third person hack 'em up game has made an appearance at E3, the mysterious Nier. Surprisingly its a new IP coming from Square Enix. Mayhaps the one they hinted at with their 'exploding city' flash game teaser thing a month ago.
