I think I was about thirteen when my dad, while watching the ceiling fan spin for a few curiously silent minutes announced, ‘I’ve decided on our family movie night tonight’, and disappeared off to the video store. That night we sat down and watched Martin Sheen freaking out in a Saigon hotel room to the dulcet tones of The Doors. Apocalypse Now did irrevocable damage to my young brain and it’s perception of war. That if it fails to destroy the bodies of those involved, it never fails to destroy the mind.
It’s often bothered me that despite the massive number of games focused on modern or recent warfare practises; none of them have admitted the prickly truth that war really is hell. That is, until I played Spec Ops The Line.

Here’s the interesting, not so interesting and slightly unusual game news from the last week. I hope reading this helps you rehabilitate from having your mind completely blown by the Dark Knight Rises this weekend past; which is, in case you’re unaware, the greatest movie of all time. Also, Anne Hathaway just... kills it, absolutely kills it with her Catwoman, she was magnetic. Yes, I might be in love.
Also Quakecon's on this Friday, and while there's no major announcements planned, it's always good for a few morself of upcoming game info, we'll have some for you next week.
RTS fans get ready to get damp in the pants because Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is finally here. Prepare for warfare at an inter-galactic level and test your strategic skills and time management in the ultimate battle to control the universe!

Last week was that magical event called San Diego (Spanish for ‘a whale’s vagina’) Comic Con and within 24 hours of starting the event proved that this is the show. Forget your E3’s, your GDC’s and TGS’s, Comic Con is where you really learn about games. All the things we expected to be at E3 have shown up at Comic Con.
I’m planning on fulfilling a lifelong dream and taking my family to Comic Con next year, this year’s show proves to me this is in no way a stupid idea. The amount of information out of Comic Con, just on games, is immense. Let’s review shall we.
