After months of waiting we're about due to get an answer.
VIOLENT computer games have no "greater impact" on players than movies or music videos, government research has found just days ahead of a decision expected to allow the sale of R18+ games.
Attorneys-general will meet in Canberra tomorrow to discuss an R18+ gaming classification, like films and literature.
Both the gaming community and family groups believe the adult rating is almost a certainty after Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor yesterday released a research paper into their impact on encouraging violent behaviour.
The Attorney-General's Department report found "there is no conclusive evidence that violent computer games have a greater impact" than other violent media.
Mr O'Connor backed the finding, saying research rejected claims of a strong link between aggression and violent computer games.
"We need a classification system that protects young minds from any possible adverse affect, while also ensuring that adults are free to make their own decisions about what they play," he said.
The impact on us will be minimal, if any, 'when' it goes through. All it does is align game media with other forms of media that require classifying. Don't expect "Rapelay" to hit the stores ... *looks at Atkinson*
Tip of the beanie to The Daily Telegraph for the info.

It’s time to return to the extremely English realm of Albion and once again take up the role of the, very literal, hero. Your job: To sort out the miserable state the realm has most recently found itself in. Firstly by journeying across the country side and recruiting dissidents and mercenaries and leading the overthrow of the current king, your own brother, Logan. It’s revolution baby!

Amazingly enough, THQ’s ‘WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011’ marks the dirty dozen of a console series that began an astonishing decade ago. Its newest iteration features the Series’ largest character roster yet, likewise an equally impressive list of match modes plus new ‘WWE Universe’ engine. Does Rey Mysterio dazzle or dud? More after the jump.
Being this is the eleventy billionth game to be released in the franchise I really don’t see the point in covering every single game type that comes with it, or explaining them. I guess, the joy that comes from getting a new game, in part, is discovering the content for yourself; for me anyway. The game types are the usual suspects that have been our companions for what is scarily beginning to resemble a decade; believe it, or not. I have no doubt Ben Chichoski would be BLOWN AWAY by the success of his dream. Easily the most dominant and significant gaming franchise in the history of first person shooters, if not gaming itself.

Here's the launch trailer for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood which will be on shelves in just a few short days on the 18th. The Assassin's Creed series is one that has surprised me, which can't be said for very many game franchises over the last decade, but I'm genuinely excited to find out what happens to the Auditore family, Assassin order and the Templars in this game. The opposite of so many flash in the pan games, the game takes its time getting where it's going and if you don't have the patience to see it through, your loss. If you want to make an argument for games as art you'd have an easier time selling a game like this to the naysayers over something as difficult to explain as the dream world qualities of a Team ICO game. The trailer has some stuff I don't recall seeing in previous trailers, such as the parachute or Da Vinci's early designs for an artillery vehicle brought to life.
Got my preorder for the collectors edition in my wallet, which unfortunately does not come with one of this wrist mounted knives. Ah well. Maybe the next game.

Please note this review is for the single player component of the campaign only, the multiplayer review will appear this week as a separate article.
The two synonymous questions on most peoples minds as they sit down to gun through the Call of Duty: Black Ops single player campaign are: will this be as good as Modern Warfare 2? And: Can Treyarch pull this off and make us forget all about Infinity Ward? After taking a weekend to make my way through Black Ops campaign my final conclusion is an unfortunate no and no.
Almost, very close at times, but no. Don’t get bummed out or send me hate mail (I get enough all ready), Black Ops is still ahead of the shooter curve in many ways. But in a few years, maybe as soon as two, when people point to the dried up husk of a franchise that Call of Duty has become Black Ops will most likely be the game pointed out as the first stumble, the first time we saw a star athlete show their age on the field.

Well this has been long overdue, a new game gadgets is finally here, well sort of… I’m going to be stretching the rules of Game Gadgets and tell you about some software. While not technically a Gadget, a good media server can make the consoles (which are gadgets) you have already much more useful.
