Duke Nukem is Coming in May

2k Games and Gearbox have just confirmed Duke Nukem Forever for a May 6th release on Xbox 360, PS3 and good old PC. Behold, the final logo art above, looking appropriately early nineties. And after the jump you can feast your eye globes on some new screenshots and even the final box art.

While I've been pretty cool on the return of one of gamings greatest sons, I confess I'm getting the tiniest bit excited about playing a game thats pure misogynist trash and violence slapped together like a bucks night at a dog fight. And with Gearbox at the helm Duke Nukem Forever could be a contender.

See more goodies after the break including a trailer with some salty language, don't tell your parents.

Dead Space 2 is a Marketing Lesson for Games

Wow, seems for the last week I haven't been able to blink without seeing or hearing a reference to Dead Space 2 in the background of my day. News sites today had the game front and centre on their main page, not their entertainment or game page mind you, their main news page, flanked by pictures of cricket, floods and Julian Assange. Articles about it being the scariest game ever made (which anyone whose played recent indie darling Amnesia would scoff at, seriously, the game is designed to extract pee from your body) and polls about favourite scary game/film moments abound new sites that normally publish pieces on games being some gate way activity to teen prostitute murdering. Even my mum, who doesn't have the skills to actually play any game from a first person perspective, called me on Sunday night and asked, 'what's this Death in Space game about then?'.

How the hell did EA achieve this epic marketing upper cut?

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Review

Are zombies passé yet? You would think we’d be tired of them by now, stumbling or sprinting through our various pop culture medias. Games especially; it seems like at least two thirds of this years big game releases from Mass Effect 2 to Call of Duty Black Ops involved zombies or zombie like monsters. And The Walking Dead, the adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s epic comic series, was one of the most popular television events this year.

Red Dead Redemption was a game notable for being both fantastic and not involving zombies. Its traditional Wild West setting was like a playable Sergio Leone film. With its first full expansion pack Undead Nightmare (as opposed to the smaller content downloads we’ve had so far) Rockstar has added zombies anyway. Perhaps this is a plot by the secret cabal that rules the world to prepare us for the shuffling apocalypse?

CES, Las Vegas, Nevada – January 7, 2011 was the perfect place for Razer, to bring thier take on bringing traditional PC desktop gaming to a portable form factor.

Powered by a new Intel® Atom™ powered concept model, codenamed “Razer Switchblade”, is a sexy piece of kit that does away with the traditional mouse and keyboard interface with an ultra-sensitive multi-touch screen, dynamic tactile keyboard, and an intelligent user interface that adjusts the configuration and key layout on-the-fly based on game content and user requirements.

Min-Liang Tan, CEO and Creative Director of Razer had the following to say: “The main problem with mobile PC gaming so far is that no one has been able to port the full mouse and keyboard experience onto a small size portable solution,” “By combining adaptive on-the-fly controls and display, we managed to maintain the full tactile keyboard in a miniature computer while saving valuable screen estate.”

“PC Gaming continues to attract innovation with rich 3-D graphics, high definition video, and life-like animation,” said Brad Graff, director of gaming platforms for Intel’s Ultra Mobility Group. “The Intel® Atom™ processor, combined with Razer’s expertise in bringing gaming solutions to market, will help make it possible for consumers to have a powerful gaming experience in mobile devices.”

“With our established focus on human interface devices, moving the mouse and keyboard experience to the next level was a natural step.” continues Min-Liang Tan. “Razer isn’t just about bringing innovation to the PC, but creating products that will change the future of gaming. The Razer Switchblade is one such product.”

That is all well and good but does it look hot? I think so and the pictures speak for themselves.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam

If you're like me and have a weird - unnatural, even - obsession with the Battlefield series should know of the existence of the latest addon to the series; Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam. BFBC2: Vietnam, funnily enough, puts you in the shit on the killing fields of Vietnam circa 1960's in some of the most significant and famous battles of that war. Most will have heard of Hamburger Hill, and if you haven't, slap yourself for being so ignorant, then rent the movie. Being not so quietly excited for this stuff began, for me, with Battlefield 1943. The things they achieved with a 500meg download is something that stands apart to this day from anything else. Early on I heard of DICE licencing CCR's Fortunate Son song and from then I dreamed of riding Huey's into battle with some Apocalypse Now-esque fan fare Wagner thumping out underneath raining hell on the enemy. Or the other way, waiting in my make-shift rice paddy trench anticipating unleashing digital 7.62mm rounds from a Chinese RPD into these old school birds of prey filling up the horizon.

Click through for a walk in the killing fields...

Kinect and Kinect Launch Titles Review

Kinect is the latest motion sensing offering from Microsoft to get gamers off their arm chairs and to introduce the whole family to their beloved Xbox 360. Kinect can be purchased as a bundle or as a standalone unit for around AU $195 and works with all models of the 360. The Kinect unit plugs directly into the console via USB and uses a combination of sensors, cameras, and microphones to detect and track movement. The technology is here in people’s living rooms a lot sooner that many of us thought it would be, so the question is: does it work? And should I buy it?

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Announced

It's pretty rare for anyone who likes games to not enjoy the last Elder Scrolls game Oblivion. It was one of those titles that spilled over into your private life. After thousands of hours you started hearing the background music in your sleep, responses to people in everyday conversations appeared in yellow text below their faces. The game ate my brain, as it did many others, and epic expansions like Knights of the Nine made things a lot worse.

And now we're staring down the barrel of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in 2011. Todd Howard, the lead behind Oblivion and the equally amazing Fallout 3, announced the game recently and confirmed that it would be running on a whole new graphics engine. The teaser is below and here's the text spoken during the trailer as it's a little hard to hear clearly.

You should have acted.
They're already here.
The Elder Scrolls told of their return.
Their defeat was merely delay
Til the time after Oblivion opened,
When the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood.
But no-one wanted to believe.
Believe they even existed.
And when the truth finally dawns:
It dawns in fire.
But,
There's one they fear.
In their tongue, he's Dovahkiin:
Dragon Born!

Let me be the first to press my knees together and squeal: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
