I've lost my head over OFLC decisions in the past, ranted and raved, pointed out the inconsistencies in their decisions, prayed for greater public transparency on their decision process. The more I've learned about the OFLC the less I've been impressed by the fact tiny semantic differences, such as the difference between distinguishing a humanoid shaped polygon as a 'zombie' or as an 'infected' is enough to get a game banned or incomprehensibly mutilated to fit a standard that pacifies a tiny demographic of the voting public.
I could note that the classification of games was implemented in the first place due to a small but vocal conservative group complaining about the original Mortal Kombat and how the same group and similar niche conservative and religous organisations continue to be dissatisfied with the laws they're whining have brought into place. I could also point out that despite the banning of Mortal Kombat Warner Bros is going ahead with press events in Australia to promote the game, likely as they know what the majority of the gaming population knows, obtaining a copy of Mortal Kombat through perfectly legal importing is very easy.
No, I'm not going to say any of these things, I'm just going to point you towards this link right here, and say I hope you enjoy playing Mortal Kombat in Australian home as much as I plan to.

Everyone cheers for the local guy, and Melbourne’s Blue Tongue Entertainment is no exception. Wii hit de Blob is back for more…and this time sharing its colorful goodness with its bigger console brother.
Chances are good if you watch a lot of day time television or still live with your mother you’ve encountered the latest mega fitness craze called Zumba. Like Tae Bo, pialtes and that ab roller frame thing before it, Zumba promises a fun and exciting way to sweat profusely and regret living on a diet of fried chicken and cigarettes. My first experience of Zumba, because I don't watch day time television, was walking my dog past the local community centre and seeing it packed wall to wall with old ladies grinding and popping while a young man with bike pants and frosted hair waved his arms and shouted encouraging words at them. My initial fears of uncovering some kind of secret pensioner ladies strip club was quashed when I vaguely recognised the logo on the sprite young mans sweat band was the same one as a weird Kinect review game I had at home. So my research into Zumba and spanish aerobics began.

I missed the unveil of the English trailer for Dynasty Warriors 7 two weeks ago, I guess I passed it over as I've been spending all my time dissecting the Japanese trailers while drooling onto a towel bib. So just in case anyone else cared about the game (I'm under no illusions as to my unique taste for Koei games) I've embedded the video below.
It's not like I'm going to convince you to get the game right? Okay maybe I'll give it a quick shot.
This will be the biggest Dynasty Warriors game yet with a whole new fifth faction carrying the story line into the final days of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms period which no Dynasty Warriors game has done before. It also carries over several features from the critically successful Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce including weapon swapping during combat and limited flight by air dashing and juggling enemies. Other new features include online coop campaign play, new characters in each factions as well as revamps (in a few cases roll backs to their much better DW5 weapons) of existing characters. All together the game is looking a lot more slick than previous titles. I mean look at the trailer, you surf on guys you're fighting!
It's pretty much the Dynasty Warriors game of my dreams and I'm very psyched to get my hands on it. The official UK/AU website is here: http://www.dynastywarriors7.eu/uk/index.htm and note that although the site has a release date of March the games UK release has been pushed back to the first week of April.

As a gamer of nearly three decades, very rarely does a title induce sensations of experiencing something truly magnificent. Mass Effect 2 –on the PS3, at last! – is such an experience.

Wow, just in case you haven't seen it on every single other games news site all ready, here's the trailer for Dead Island. An open ended FPS styled survival horror game following a married couple fighting of zombies at a resort island, it looks like some kind of cross between Dead Rising and Farcry. Very little is known about the game so far, other than the fact it's supposed to debut this year some time.
This trailer should keep it on the tip of your tongue for a long while. Honestly I can't remember seeing a better promo for a game before in my life. Can you?

I really took for granted how rough girl gamers have it. I've often considered in game abuse messaging to be an issue blown well out of proportion by games newsites on slow days. Five minutes of exposure to the Fat, Ugly or Slutty website trawling the absolutely disgraceful remarks players have fired off to a complete stranger just because they believed it was a girl is more than enough time to make me feel very stupid. Being a girl and a gamer must be a horrible experience and the anonymity of the internet is being abused like a free pass to epic levels of despicable douchebaggery by male gamers.
The general response to FUS and complaints about unpleasent gamer msgs is that, 'everyone does it, get over it'. To this I can only say screw that noise!
