9. Silkworm

I recently played a rather thrilling multiplayer of Halo 3 on the Avalanche map (stop being a cheap skate and download the map pack if you haven’t) in which my team dominated the field with a combination of the helicopter like Hornet and a Warthog. After the game as I muted the opposition one by one to avoid their homophobic jibes I couldn’t help but think, if they remade Silkworm, this is what it should be like.

Silkworm was one of the better side scrolling shooters released for the Commodore 64 and Amiga 500. Even though playing as the jeep was a bit lame, the action was fast and frantic with later levels becoming insanely difficult as you battled enemies with your chopper and jeep combo. Halo 3 makes it pretty clear that vehicle combat in shooters can be excellent fun and a Silkworm remake could be the first of a new breed of vehicle based shooters.
