10 Games Overdue for a Remake

8. Paperboy

I’m convinced that the developers for GTA San Andreas were secretly trying to make a new Paperboy game early in the process, then the big wigs got involved and threw in all this gang violence and references to John Singleton films. Maybe reformed gang banger CJ just wanted to deliver papers and leave the hood behind. I sure hoped so, from the first moment CJ hopped on a BMX and cycled through the gritty south central streets I was at the least hoping for a lengthy delivery side mission.

The original Paperboy was one of those addictive titles, your single goal was to peddle up a street and deliver as many papers as possible without running afoul of the various terrors and obstacles of suburbia. rabid dogs, L plate drivers, Alzheimer sufferers with lawn mowers, they were all out to get you. The GTA model seems ideal for a remake of Paperboy. You hop on your bike and just try and delivery papers, avoiding all the danger and terror that involves. Every day improving your score and learning your hood until that sweet moment when you have a perfect delivery run. Just imagine a downloadable content pack for Liberty City. Grand Theft Auto Paper Boy, you’ve been a European hitman, a biker out for blood, now see the face of real danger! As long as they give you the option to flip of a motorist I would buy it in a heartbeat.
