People are often surprised when I admit to them I’m obese. I don’t have a hanging beer gut or an invisible neck. Being a really big guy my obesity is relatively hidden, but it’s definitely there. According to the Body Mass Index scale, at 130 kilos and standing 6 foot 5 I am an obese man and at the age of 32 I’m beginning to feel it. Even worse I’m aware that every day that passes my age is going to make it even harder to get rid off and keep off extra weight. To get just under the line for normal weight range at my height I need to be 35 kilograms lighter. That’s a lot.
I’ve all ready adjusted my diet in the past week, cutting out sugar and starchy carbs all together which has all ready done amazing things for my energy levels. But what I really need to do is get more physical and this is where video games come in.

Once upon a time the words Halo and Xbox were synonymous. Master Chief made the Xbox, he moved more units than any other marketing strategy. But something funny happened in the early RROD plagued days of the Xbox 360, a challenger appeared, his do rag and soul patch blotting out the sun. If Gears of War 2 didn’t prove the franchise is the real reason to own a 360, Gears of War 3 kicks any doubt in the nuts and head stomps its skull.
Start your chainsaw bayonets ladies and gentlemen.

This is increasingly like two very vocal mothers giving birth in the same room, screaming violently at each other. The only thing left now is the blissful silence while the mother and family admire their amazing spawn...until they start slinging muck on how ugly the other baby is and we resume normal programming. Ah, the internet...

This Saturday, Rockstar Games will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of one of the most influential games of all time, Grand Theft Auto III.
With stellar voice acting, a darkly comic storyline, a stunning soundtrack and revolutionary open-world gameplay, Grand Theft Auto III was a landmark moment in popular culture.
The tale of a small-time criminal set loose in Liberty City, a sprawling metropolis where anything could happen, Grand Theft Auto III was the frontrunner of a new genre: the non-linear, ‘open world’ 3D game. It also marked a turning point in the evolution of videogames into a bonafide entertainment phenomenon.

The Tuesday Cap is a new regular column capping of and commenting on game news for the past week.
Yeah, sure, I could be playing Batman Arkham City right now like every single person on both my Xbox and PSN friends lists. But I'm a pretend journalist, and that means I have pretend obligations to you my dear (hopefully not pretend) reader. Like Batman has obligations. And just like Batman I'm going to fullfill those obligations. Although sitting at the computer wearing latex tights is going to raise some awkward questions if someone comes in.
I'd better type quickly.
(incidentally, aren't all these monochromatic Batman images promoting the game just radical? When they release an Arkham City art book I am buying the hells out of that thing).

I’m a huge fan of Relic Studios and their work on strategy games; particularly the Warhammer 40,000 set Dawn of War series. When I learned they were working on a third person action game for consoles I was apprehensive. But Space Marine is a title that will win them new fans and drive existing fans wild. The tabletop Warhammer universe has finally arrived on consoles with a blood splashing bang. (We'll pretend Fire Warrior never happened)
