Arguably the most anticipated title of this year’s blockbuster release schedule, Gears of War 2 delivered a more complete package than its predecessor in every facet.  The original’s jaw dropping graphics were improved to a level thought unattainable and the iconic cover system received some excellent enhancements.  The action was on a truly epic scale this time around with the gameplay alternating between incredibly intense firefights and sections that resembled theme park rides both in pacing and visual splendour.

Gears 2 even managed to outdo the original’s co-op campaign experience, no small feat indeed.  The addition of Horde was pure genius and is one of the most frantic, fun filled co-op modes ever seen.  Gears’ massively popular multiplayer also received significant tweaking making it somewhat more accessible to the masses even if there were some early matchmaking problems.

We’ve gotta hand it to Cliff Bleszinski and the team at Epic Games, Gears of War 2 was truly bigger, better and more badass.
