Beatles Rockband

More details are coming to light about a new game from Harmonix the developers of Guitar Hero's poor cousin Rockband. The Beatles Game has been confirmed as not being  "just another rockband" but actually a whole new game experience in its own right.

I personally find this hard to believe but am excited about the premise. Especially since it has now been announced there will be 45 playable tracks including some rare unreleased B-Sides. I for one think it's great that Record Exec's are finally coming to grips with the fact there is one more than one way to skin a cat.

There's a phrase I've always liked, kind of a counter to that one teachers use "there are no stupid questions" (well of course there are, Today Tonight uses them all the time). But the phrase I like is "Better to remain silent and have people think you are an idiot, than open your mouth and remove all doubt".

Michael Atkinson wrote a letter recently to Kotaku and has now officially removed all doubt.

Lacking a podcast last weekend as an excuse to harp on about Stormrise I'm forced to wait until Mick and Derek have gone to bed to instead slip a blog post in about it under their noses.

Insert evil chuckle and steepled fingers here.

Once upon a time an Xbox Live Arcade game had to come in under 50mb to meet with the stringent Microsoft approvals. After the release of the Elite and bigger hard drives going on sale, not to mention games like Street Fighter II Hyper Mega Thingo coming in at over four times that limit, Microsoft have decided to officially state that the once strict rule is now 'more of a guideline'. So is this good news for the future of download gaming or bad news for those poor consumers buying Xbox 360 Arcades? Read about it here.

Pete Wanat, developer of the upcoming Wanted: Weapons of Fate was recently interviewed by Joystiq and offered more than a few interesting observations on movie license games and shooters in general. This guy has brought us The Thing and Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, in other words he's that guy that makes all the 'good' movie games. The interview is well worth a read here.
