SOMEONE HAS TO DIE

Don’t get us wrong we love all the characters of Delta Squad, even the bitching and moaning Baird. But with the story promising all out large scale warfare and humanity’s backs against the wall someone will have to pay the ultimate price and we don’t mean Carmine’s cousin/brother whatever he is. Of course he is going to buy it. With the emotionally stirring trailers ‘Rendezvous’ and ‘Last Day’ one gets the feeling Delta Squad is on a collision course with a fateful inevitability; someone will have to make a sacrifice for the greater good to ensure a triumphant victory. Name one great war movie where all the memorable characters survived to the end credits. You can’t. This needs to happen otherwise the stakes aren’t high enough this time around.

So who will it be? Baird is the lesser ‘fan favourite’ of the four and initially is an obvious choice, but perhaps a little too obvious. Besides the team dynamic would suffer without the constant friction that exists between him and Marcus. My money is on Cole, he is immensely popular and his demise would give the story considerable weight plus he seems to be the type that would lay it all on the line to win the war. A dark horse could be Dom, but it is hard to see an introduction of a new playable co-op character for Gears 3.
