Resident Evil 5 is back with a roundhouse to the head in this next instalment of downloadable content for everyone’s favourite zombie killer. Desperate escape is a fast paced and action packed instalment so read ahead to find out if adds depth to the experience or sinks to the bottom of the pile.

Desperate escape picks after the epic battle between Wesker where our heroes of the day Chris and Sheva save Jill Valentine from his control. Jill meets up with BSAA Captain Josh Stone and they embark on a frantic balls to the wall killing spree. In this chapter you won't have time to scratch your head trying to solve a puzzle as there are none to frustrate you.

Resident Evils 5 strength has and will always be the co-op experience and I highly recommend you play it through with a friend rather than an AI controlled partner. Whilst the AI is very competent at dispatching hordes of Uroboros they will at times frustrate you and remind you that you are baby sitting at the worst possible time.

Coming in at just over an hour of game play and 180bpm the whole way,  this chapter is similar in length to Lost Nightmares which is the other episodic DLC release for Resident Evil 5. Desperate Escape offers fantastic replay-ability and a Mercenaries mode that is bulked up with Josh Stone and the super fine Rebecca Chambers as new characters, these options combined with the main story are enough to warrant the extra cost.
