I'm going to be brutally honest with you, the last time I played a golf style game would be Microsoft Golf back in 1994 and getting into Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 was a completely different experience for me. I've played many kinect games recently and I must say that none of them have made me so engrossed. But enough talking about how much of a "noob" I am with sports games and lets get into the nitty gritty side of things.

Lets briefly touch over the controls. Out of the 2 playing styles I must admit I found the Kinect option to be the most enjoyable and amusing. I loved the fact that if I had a hard day at work and all I wanted to do was relax and de-stress, I could just lazily make my way through an 18 hole course and take up the majority of my evening and completely reliving my mind of its troubles. The analog stick style was a very different story altogether. Never have I encountered something so touchy-feely that even the slightest mistake would send my ball into the sticks. After a few practice shots I was still terrible but at least I made it out of the sticks and into the rough. This is the style for those that love getting involved into the mechanics of the game. With careful precision and tact you can land the ball wherever you want it to go. New comers need not fear this though as I found the use of my trusty caddie to be most helpful as he will not only pick my club for me, he will also tell me how to stand where to hit my ball and probably how to smile for the camera.

I've never heard of a leveling system in a sports style game until now and after playing I find it hard to believe any sports game could survive without it. Along with this, I loved the addittion of "Coins" allowing you to buy "Boost Pins" which, you guessed it, give you that extra buit of an edge when tackling some of the courses. Another thing worth mentioning is that the DLC can easily be unlocked by just playing the game, which I believe is a massive thing. 16 bonus courses by just finishing the previous courses, and for those that don't have either the patience or the time you can easily purchase them along with additional coins.

While I didn't venture deeply into the online Country Clubs, I really enjoyed what I did sample. You get the ability to join together with friends and enter into tournaments for the chance to earn coins faster and to ultimately have a great game of golf with your mates. Multiplayer integration in any game is a big tick in my box, and if you have a game planned at your local course that gets cancelled due to poor weather, you can always subside into your respective gaming station and take on some international titles.

As far as sports games go, I've never been a massive fan but in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 I must say I might be rethinking my views on them.
