What more can I say about this title than that I feel like a kid again. Upon the commencement of my first fight, it left me feeling like my parents had dumped me in the kids room at the local RSL with a pocket full of 50c coins and a row of arcade machines. I was in heaven. I feel the soul nature of this title is to do the same to many veteran gamers and to let the new generations in on what they have missed out.

Street Fighter X TEKKEN is based around the same graphical nature of the ol' school 2D arcade games with the sharp snappy movements, the excessive accidental jumping and the sense of accomplishment upon the completion of each fight. Set in a simple 1v1 fighting scenario, it exiles the use of strafing and the freedom of an open arena like modern day fighting titles. This in itself forces the player to be bound with both speed and precision, or if you're like me you will completely ignore the command lists available through the pause menu and button smash the controller like Steady Eddie on speed and be amazed at the awesome combo that you have no idea how you just did.

The game features 25 characters from Street Fighter and another 25 from TEKKEN giving you 50 playable characters straight off the bat. This allows the player the diversity to choose a team based both on their unique fighting styles and their looks. You are allowed a total of 2 characters in your team giving you the ability to do tactical tag team combos on your opponents to send the combo counter flying through the roof. Each playable character in the Arcade mode comes with their own "mini story" if you will. It will feature a short film clip at the start of the Arcade based on what character you have chosen and then show you another upon the completion of the arcade. This could be taken as a way of finishing an individual character and being that there are 50 of them, you will be fighting for a while.

Street Fighter X TEKKEN features 5 game modes, Arcade, Verses, Online, Training and Challenges. Each mode is fairly self explanatory, and offers many ways to help tweak and hone your skills to become a much more skillful fighter. The ability to play with friends both locally and via the Internet is an absolute blast and I couldn't recommend it more. The title offers 2 new game mechanics, the Gem system and Pandora mode. The player can equip 3 different gems to their character each of which will give a certain stat boost once they have completed a certain task within the fight. The other is Pandora mode which can be activated if your character is below 25% total HP. Once you activate Pandora, your current character will be sacrificed and the tag team partner will step in with a temporary boost their strength and an infinite Cross Gauge. This allows you a short amount of time to deal as much damage as possible in the hopes you will take down your opponent because if you don't, your character will K.O. from exhaustion.

Not much more can be said other than what you see is what you get, the Street Fighter experience. This title is a definite for anyone planning on throwing a party soon and in the need of some decent entertainment for patrons or simply just for the chance to relive some childhood memories. It offers everything it says it does and doesn't fall short in any area, not many titles these days could fill the same shoes. Couldn't recommend it more.

5-stars

Today I am dishing out my first 5/5 rating for a game as I feel it delivers everything it says it does and I was not in the least disappointed with this title. There's just one last thing to say... HADOUKEN!!!!
