High End: $1,500-$5,000

As I said above choosing your home theatre is a personal process, treat it like buying a car. Narrow your choices down then test drive them, if your planning on dropping a few thousand dollars on speakers you have to listen to them too see if you like them first. All the experts in the world could recommend you a pair of speakers, when you get them home and they don’t sound good to your ears then you have just wasted your money. But spending a few thousand dollars on a surround sound system will bag a system that is not only upgradeable but you wont have much need to upgrade for a long time.

Option 1

For Pure Audio it’s hard to go past Yamaha, a brand that has been making quality Audio parts for years and have a sound that seems to be safe to recommend to anyone. That’s why I'm going to recommend them to you. There top level Receiver and Speaker Package is the YHT-1092AU, with an awesome 7.2 set up you could imagine how this could make your room full of sound and for $4,499 it should. I wouldn’t be surprised that this system could be had for lower than $4,000 which would make this an awesome deal. If your budget doesn’t quite go that high The YHT-892AU is a 7.1 system that doesn’t have the same quality speakers but by no means are they low quality has a lower recommended price at $1,999 that might make it easier for the partner to stomach.

Option 2

It wouldn’t be out of the question to want a system that sounds like the air is filled with gold. And that’s what my ears had the pleasure of listening to one day with the Kilpsch F3 Speakers in 7.1. Currently Harvey Norman is selling these speakers, albeit in a 5.1 setup with a Denon 7.1 receiver for $4,499. These are speakers that I think everyone needs to listen to first, I have said that multiple times in the article but for these speakers it is essential. The horn tweeters that Klipsch are know for may sound harsh to some ears. With this system if you have the full $5,000 to spend haggle to have the 2 more surround speakers thrown in and you will have an awesome 7.1 surround system to take your games to the next dimension and make going to the movies a lot less exciting.

Oh quick little side note, our editor Mick currently has a hard on for the Dali Ikon range of speakers, a raging hard on. To be honest I can see why, they are nice looking and awesome sounding speakers.
