The much teased and hugely anticipated reveal trailer for Modern Warfare 2 has just dropped over at the official Modern Warfare 2 site and it is truly some heart thumping action if ever I saw some.  They are certainly making every effort to make the connect with Call of Duty 4 in terms of a directly continuing story.

One gets the impression the story will have a stronger focus this time around as the Call of Duty moniker is dropped and Infinity Ward look to craft a richer experience.  The recurrence of consistent characters throughout the trailer in particular the unit which seems to be operating in the Brazil portion (one guy with a mask, another with a mohawk reminiscent of UFC's Chuck Liddell) is further evidence that quality storytelling is the next frontier to be conquered by these outstanding developers.

Some of the more memorable sequences are some potential driving scenarios, a torture scene involving your team (cut scenes potentially?), some incredibly fluid animation particularly during hand to hand confrontations.  But the highlight for me is an epic set piece at a castle culminating with an insane adrenaline pumping helo extraction which instantly evoked memories of The Dark Knight's skyhook scene.

We've already formulated at least dozen theories on all this, expect us to be speculating like crazy and just generally talking out of our arses in the next day or so.
