Whilst trying to secure a copy of the deliciously brutal UFC 2009 Undisputed today it has come to my attention that numerous retailers have sold out, with the majority of copies flying off shelves on the day of release.  It isn't due to insufficient ordering either.

My two closest EB games and local JB Hi-Fi were completely sold out for both 360 & PS3, thankfully Big W was able to satisfy my desire to punch someone while they're down.  Many outlets are hopeful of a restock Monday.  One EB games representative noted the staff were scratching their heads at the number of copies secured wondering why so many, only for them all to be snapped up day 1.  He went on to note that this is "the fastest selling release this year."  THQ certainly seem to have a hit on their hands and with good reason, it is a great fighting game featuring a sport that has risen dramatically in popularity since its last foray into gaming.  With THQ Australia distributing Capcom titles locally, 2009 is shaping as a big year for them.  Capcom's Bionic Commando released same day as UFC and Red Faction: Guerilla which is starting to garner some very positive buzz drops in only two weeks time.

Guess there shouldn't be much trouble finding other Aussies to duke it out with in ranked matches now.
